Powerhouse Tools Powers the 9th Metals and Engineering Week Welding Skills Competition as Official Welding Machine Partner

Powerhouse Tools joined the 9th Metal & Engineering Skills Competition as the Official Welding Machine Partner during the celebration of Metals and Engineering Week (M&E Week) 2026 at the Gold Building, DOST-MIRDC.

Organized by the Department of Science and Technology – Metals Industry Research and Development Center (DOST-MIRDC), the annual Metals and Engineering Week serves as a platform to showcase the latest developments in metals fabrication, engineering, and Industry 4.0 technologies. Through technical seminars, exhibits, training programs, webinars, and national skills competitions, the event supports the country's goal of strengthening its industrial sectors.

This year's welding competition was co-organized with the Philippine Welding Society (PWS), DOST-MIRDC's key industry partner in advancing welding standards, certifications, and workforce development.

A Record-Breaking Year for the Competition

The 9th M&E Week Welding Skills Competition recorded its highest number of participants since the competition to date, with a total of 34 participants across three categories:

• Category 1: Oxy-Acetylene Cutting (OAC) – Carbon Steel Plate (8 participants)
• Category 2: Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) – Carbon Steel Vessels (16 participants)
• Category 3: Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) – Stainless Steel Pipes (Polished Finish) (10 participants)

Participants came from across the Philippine welding community, including TESDA students, experienced welders from fabrication companies, and representatives from organizations such as Tahanan Walang Hagdan. Their participation reflected the growing interest in welding careers and the continuous improvement of technical skills across different sectors.

Supporting Filipino Welders with Reliable Equipment

Throughout the Category 2 (GMAW) and Category 3 (SMAW) competitions, participants relied on Powerhouse Tools welding machines and protective gear as they demonstrated their skills in completing the competition's welding tasks.

A Category 2 participant used the Powerhouse Tools Mig Evo Pro 250A, professional TIG welding gloves, and auto-darkening welding helmet during the competition. 

Category 3 participants used the Powerhouse Tools Turbomaxx Ultra 250A Inverter Welding Machine to weld stainless steel pipes.

By supporting competitions that emphasize craftsmanship and professional development, Powerhouse Tools continues to contribute to raising the standards of welding education and practice in the Philippines.
